Baccarat can be summed up in one sentence. In Baccarat the Punto player plays against their opponent, the Banco (Banker) with both Punto and Banco competing to win one hand of Baccarat with nine points. Baccarat is sometimes called Punto Banco. The banker can only bet on Banco, yet Punto can bet on either Punto or Banco. A Shoe is used for holding and dealing cards in Baccarat. The shoe is held by Banco until Punto wins. The Banker has a house advantage, so the casino collects 5% of Banco's Baccarat winnings.
How to play
1) Punto and Banco each get two cards from the Baccarat dealer.
2) Compare card values with your Baccarat opponent.
3) The Baccarat player that comes closest to 9 wins in Baccarat.
4) If both players tie with a nine, the cards are returned to the dealer for another round of card dealing.
5) A 'Natural' is a Baccarat hand of 8 or 9. No additional cards are dealt.
6) In certain cases, the casino permits a third card to be dealt that comes closest to 9 wins the hand in Baccarat.
Rules
1) Cards with a maximum face value of 9 are used in Baccarat. The other cards are discarded.
2) Suits of cards (hearts, clubs etc) are of no value in Baccarat. 3) When the sum of the card values exceeds nine, the left digit is removed, making an 11 a 1.
